She asked him once when they were in the market port of Sol, what the point of having so many different colored balls of velvet on green sticks were for.
“They’re roses. People use them to decorate the inside of buildings or to just give to their loved ones.”
“But why so many colors?”
“Well each color has different meanings. Red is love,” and he pointed to a couple with said colored rose near the plaza fountain, “Yellow is friendship while white means innocen-“
“What about the pink? Is that love, too?”
“It means appreciation…’Thank you’ really.” He didn’t know why she looked so interested in the flower then; eyes gleaming in delight. He hoped it wasn’t because she had wanted it. They couldn’t be wasting their money of flowers that did them no good.
But she had hummed her agreement and motioned that she would follow him without another word towards the Inn.
It was two months later in the village of Prahna, that she presented him a pink rose.
He had lifted an eyebrow quizzically, but took the small gift with an embarrassed ‘Thank you?’
She had grinned proudly then.
“It’s a thank you for letting me see the world with you.”
